NOBidSettle is not a law firm. BidSettle provides tools to help you find solutions to your disputes, on your own. If you have any doubts or questions with regard to the legal aspects or consequences of using BidSettle, we recommend that you consult a lawyer or a paralegal.

YES, the BidSettle system is available wherever you have an Internet connection. Make sure it is a secure connection. However, for an optimal user experience, we recommend that you use your computer.

The website runs 24 hours per day. However, it is possible that there be interruptions for website maintenance purposes. If this is the case, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Please note that some services, such as legal reviews and calls, are available during office hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and are not available on weekends and holidays.

YES. BidSettle can be used anytime and anywhere in the world as long as you have an Internet connection. There is a possibility that a country or a jurisdiction could block your access to the website. In this case, we are not responsible for the inconvenience this may cause you.

YES, BidSettle uses the TLS v1.2 (Transport Layer Security) cryptographic protocol, which is currently the highest standard of security. This secures your personal information. In addition, we store and process your information on computers located in Canada that are protected by physical as well as technological security devices. Your information is not shared with any third party without your approval.

You are responsible for the documents that are provided to you by BidSettle, and generally, they are located on your “Dashboard”. Should you not be able to find them, please get in touch with us via email, at support@bidsettle.com, and our customer service will help you recuperate your documents.

3- Demand Letters

The demand letters generated by our website cost $40, plus tax. If you choose to send it by registered mail, the cost is $20 plus tax, per recipient.

You can request a written review by a legal advisor, where they will provide their comments in the form of notes, similar to “post-its”, within 48 business hours. This option, offered at the time of payment, is at a cost of $50, plus tax.

You can also request a phone session in addition to the written review. If you choose this option, once the written review is done, the advisor will schedule a telephone meeting with you and you can ask questions related to your file. The remote session with the written review adds $100 plus tax to the cost of the demand letter.

It’s best to have all of the necessary information handy (for example, the day or days the event occurred, the story in chronological order, etc.) as you will have to answer a series of questions. This will save you time.

Don’t forget that unless you asked for a review by a legal professional, once completed, BidSettle does not verify the demand letter and you are entirely responsible for its content, including the recipient’s address.

No. You are solely responsible of the demand letter’s content, including the recipient’s address. If it does not make it to destination because of an inaccurate address, you will not be reimbursed.

If you did not choose the $20 per recipient option (to have us send it for you by registered mail), you must take care of the shipping/delivery yourself.

Once you have completed the smartform, paid the fees and signed electronically, your demand letter will be available and you can print it if necessary. It will also be available from your dashboard.

If you selected that we send your demand letter via registered mail, you will receive emails from Canada Post regarding its delivery. You should keep these emails in a safe place.

After, you can generally expect one of the following four scenarios:

(1) the opposing party will accept your claim;

(2) the opposing party will counter-offer;

(3) the opposing party will completely deny your claim; or

(4) the opposing party will not reply at all.

Before you sign your demand letter, you will see a summary of all the information that you submitted during the process. You can then review that information and make changes if necessary. You will see its final look when you sign it electronically.

4- Small Claims

The total price varies depending on the legal à la carte service that you select. However, in any case, it costs seventy-five dollars ($75) for the platform administration and delivery to the courthouse.

Also, keep in mind that this $75 price does not include court fees. You should therefore anticipate that an additional amount will be charged for filing your documents in court. You will need to pay the court fees when you finish filling out the smartform.

In the exceptional case where it is impossible for us to serve you, you will be reimbursed in full.

For your information, here are the detailed prices of the products offered by our partner law firms. These prices do not include legal fees or platform administration fees.

2.1 Legal review: $100 + tax

A lawyer or paralegal will review your claim and provide you with comments in the form of notes (similar to “post-its”). You will therefore have the opportunity to make changes to your claim before submitting it to the court.

2.2 Legal review + telephone appointment with a lawyer or paralegal: $150 + tax

A legal advisor will review your claim and set up a telephone meeting with you to provide you with comments and answer your legal questions.

2.3. Legal review + telephone appointment with a legal advisor + preparation for the trial: $225 + tax

This option includes services 2.1 and 2.2, above, as well as a pre-trial preparation session. This will improve your ability to present arguments to the judge and challenge the opposing party’s arguments.

If you decide not to go ahead with your claim, you will only be reimbursed if the file has not yet been sent to the courthouse. Once the file has been sent, it is not possible to recover the funds.

You will, however, be reimbursed for services you did not receive or consume. For example, if you have benefitted from a written review and phone appointment with a lawyer or paralegal, you will not be reimbursed for these services.

Another example: if a legal advisor calls you and informs you that you have no interest in suing the other party, you will have to pay the costs of administering the platform, the review made by the advisor as well as the appointment over the phone with the latter, but you will be reimbursed for trial preparation and court costs.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you believe you are entitled to a refund, or if you change your mind, by writing to us at legal@bidsettle.com.

We guarantee that a lawyer or paralegal will review your claim within two (2) business days as of the day you completed the online smartform. Be careful to fill out the smartform correctly: we do not guarantee the deadlines if it is not fully completed.

If it is not possible for our advisors to comment on your case constructively, for example because it is too complicated or too vague, you will be reimbursed. The advisor or our customer service will contact you directly to notify you.

We guarantee that the legal advisor (or customer service) will send you an email so that you can schedule a telephone appointment with them within two (2) business days of your request. You will have to choose between the few dates and times that will be offered to you, failing which the telephone appointment may not take place within the guaranteed time limits. Be careful to fill out the form correctly: we do not guarantee the deadlines if it is not fully completed.

If it is not possible for our lawyers or paralegals to constructively comment on your case, for example because it is too complicated or too vague, you will be reimbursed. The advisor or our customer service will contact you directly to notify you.

We guarantee that the legal advisor will send you an email or call you so that you can set up the telephone appointment. You will have to choose among the few dates and times that will be offered to you.

We recommend that you gather all the documents relevant to your file and prepare your questions. The telephone meeting with the lawyer or paralegal will last 30 to 45 minutes, so it is important to be concise and to have the relevant information at hand.

You will only be reimbursed if your questions exceed the knowledge of the lawyer or paralegal, in which case the latter should let you know. For any comments, contact us at legal@bidsettle.com.
